This is probably a dumb question but I recently bought a "59 861 and I notice the three point arms only go down to about 10 inches above the ground. Is this normal? Can they be lowered? My 8N"s arms go almost all the way to the ground. I"d like them to go lower so my subsoiler will go deeper.

| | Move the Draft/Position control lever to Draft and the touch control lever fully down. If the arms now fall considerably lower, your mechanism needs internal adjustment and, probably, a new cam follower pin. Dean

| Seems like they should go a little lower than that, I never measured mine. With the control wand all the way down, can you push them down any more? What size rear tires do you have? -Will

| Nope, they don"t go down any more. Tire size is 14.9 X 24 which I believe the standard rims are 28 so if anything they should be lower to the ground. I did notice just now that the rod without the leveling crank that goes from the lift arms under the drivers seat to the lower lift arms that the attachments hook up to has a zerk fitting and it looks like it can be adjusted as well. It would require that the bolt connecting it to the lower lift arm be removed and then it looks like it would just spin by hand. Is this normal for the 801 series? It"s a bit of a hassel but not a big deal (or so it appears).

| The tractor originally had a fixed length rod on left side and leveling box rod on the right side. Sounds like the left side was replaced with something that can be adjusted so, sure, turn it out and see if you can get it low enough. Usually these replacement rods are threaded on both ends so you can adjust them without disconnecting by turning the middle section like an adjustable top link, but sounds like yours is not. Any farm or tractor shop usually sells the fully adjustable type lift rods, I put one on the left side of my 801. -Will

| Sounds like it is a case of the wrong tire size on that tractor and a 14.9X24 can in fact sit taller then the common 13.6X28 that should be on that tractor. The 801 series came out with the 12X28 which is the tire size of 13.6X28

| 24 is the diameter of the rim not the tire it self. A 14.9 tire that is on a 24 inch rim can in fact sit taller then a 28 inch tire like the 12.4 or 13.4 since the 14.9 is both wide and tall and a lot wider and a good bit taller then many 28 inch ones are
