Kent Stapleton 12-03-2012 19:22:20 69.245.188.236 Report to Moderator	Have 64 4000 sos that sets in a barn. Had tractor for over 40 yrs and know a little about them. I can't get any fuel to come out the injectors. I opened the throttle, bled the filter, and cranked the engine and nothing spits out the injectors. I usually start it once a year but never run it out of the barn. The fuel is turned on at the tank. Any suggestions. [Reply]   [No Email]

May be a stuck metering valve. If that doesn't work clean around the pump top cover and then remove the top cover and see if the metering valve is moving. Turning when the throttle is moved. If it is stuck in one position try moving it left to right to free it up. If you get it moving and running never shut the engine down with the throttle but rather put the transmission in 10th gear and with the brakes held release the inching pedal to choke it down. This way the metering valve will not be moved to closed position and next time you try to start it you'll have fuel going to the injectors. Roosamaster pumps don't like to sit up for long periods with the metering valve closed. Zane [Reply]  [No Email]

I siphoned out the old fuel and put a gal. of fresh fuel in. The fuel is getting to the pump so the problem must be the pump as you say. Not sure how to bleed pump but will look into it. How's the fuel? It can't be very good if it only starts once per year! Is the fuel making it to the pump? Did you bleed the pump? Is the metering valve stuck in the shut off position? Any of those could prevent fuel delivery. Your governor retainer ring is likely shot as well and particles of it lodged in inappropriate places in the pump. [Reply]  [No Email]
