Is the steering gear box from a car, truck or was it special made for ford offset tractor?

| I can't say for certain, but from the New Holland parts site, it doesn't look like any car or truck steering box that I've seen.
If you're looking for a replacement and can't find any 541's in a salvage yard, the 4 cylinder 2000 was offered in an offset model that uses the same part numbers for the front axle and steering parts as the 541.
