Hi, New to this forum...
I am in the process of bringing an NAA back to life (posted on a different forum). The latest piece of the puzzle it the carb. The current situation is this. I bolt it on the tractor and turn on the fuel. I can see the fuel flow into the carb (through the clear filter) and then it stops, indicating that the float and valve are working.
Next after I crank it a bit fuel starts flowing out of the throat of the carb. Needless to say is hasn't run in this condition.
Upon opening it up it appears that it is missing a couple important pieces. The Idle Jet is there in the top half of the carb, but the economizer jet is missing. Also missing is the Main jet that I gather should be in the bottom of the bore under the Main Discharge Nozzle. The discharge nozzle was also bent, but is now broken due to my attempt to straighten it.
I have called several tractor parts vendors and the Jets appear not to be an item that anyone sells. Apparently they are not in the "complete" rebuild kits, although the discharge nozzle is. The choke plate is in backwards too.
Can someone please confirm for me that there should be these 3 jets as described? Perhaps a diagram is available?
Does anyone have any of these parts available and be willing to sell me? Or another carb they'd be willing to part with.
Thanks |

| Thanks, This confirms what I was also told today by the "old guy" at the tractor store in Eugene. It took a trip down there (70 miles one way) but managed to at least score a new main nozzle, and the little spring for the choke flap.
He suggested verifying the timing is correct which I will do. The mystery here is that it ran well enough to warm it up once. But it was connected to a temporary fuel source. After hooking up the tank it ran for a bit but now won't start.
Back to square 1. verify timing, and spark, check valves, assemble the carb and try again. |

| Quoting Removed, click Modern View to seeReason they don't sell them, is that the TSX 428 didn't use them. The idle jet is the only one used. The power adjust needle in conjunction with its seat hole size and the nozzle set the power mixture and there is no economizer jet. ...not even an economizer passage into throat. |
