upnorthwi 10-31-2012 02:32:57 76.2.221.25 Report to Moderator	Is the serial number only in one spot on the NAA? I'm really having trouble reading the one on this tractor. I've seen photos where it should be NAA xxxx. On top of the starter housing, it looks like ?114159 Some character followed by what looks like maybe 2 1's, the a crisp 4 and 159, then a diamond? I'll try to post a picture, if you can enlarge it you can see it, but the number just doesn't make sense to me. I don't know if the NAA was hit a few times with tools or something [Reply]   [No Email]

Sean in PA 10-31-2012 04:10:38 71.224.102.32 Report to Moderator	Re: NAA serial number in reply to upnorthwi, 10-31-2012 02:32:57   According to John Smith's site, the serial number on the early NAA's was on the left side of the engine near the front, just below the head and above the generator, but once they moved the serial number to the transmission they no longer put them on the engine. Engines and transmissions have been swapped over the years so some might have an early engine and a late transmission and therefore have 2 different serial numbers, and some might have a later engine and an earlier transmission and therefore have no serial numbers. There may have been more characters at the beginning that are worn off or no longer readable, and NAA114159 would be a valid 1954 serial number. It also might be a transmission from a later hundred series that was transplanted. Is there another number above the one you posted? [Reply]  [No Email]

My impression by pictures I"ve seen is "NAA" should be before the number. Did they Possibly not put NAA with all serial numbers? I"ll have to check again on the motor. [Reply]  [No Email]
