FordTractorMan 10-27-2012 15:08:13 50.40.244.149 Report to Moderator	Need some help w/some things on this tractor I'm ignorant of, it being my 1st TW. 1) The brakes don't seem to operate independently - press either pedal and it feels like both wheels are stopping, and no, the plate that connects both pedals isn't connected :-) - 1st thing I looked at. Along with that, are these brakes stout enough to pull the engine down and possibly kill the tractor? Mine seem to be. 2) I had Ag Express Electronics rebuild the dash in Sept. and the speedometer worked until Oct. 5th. Just quit suddenly while bushhogging. The air cleaner restriction light won't go off (bad sender?), and the Transmission Temp light tries to light up all the time. I've washed out the oil cooler twice, but it doesn't help. 3) The hazard lights work, but not the turn signals. Multi-switch bad? 4)Is there any way to quiet that blasted chime behind the dash?? Found that the wires close to the sensor on the pump were broken from vibration. Soldered new leads to the short wires that were left and then strain relief the wires so they would not vibrate. Our TW30 brakes also seem to have to step them to the floor before they grab. Maybe the brakes are wore out. When the oil is cold there is a slight delay to when they activate. Maybe you have a leak in the valve body for the brakes as they are hydraulic assist. I never had a TW35 dash apart but on our TW30 the copper fingers where the connections plug in get corroded. You have to be careful as they are really thin copper on the dash side and break easily. Not sure if the same setup is used on the 35 for the dash connections. I'm glad there is not too much electrical crap on the TW30. Mechanical levers always work. How much cheaper would a tractor be without all the electronic crap that you really don't need? You're not likely to find much of any instrument cluster troubleshooting info in an IT manual. There's a reason the factory manual is easily 20 times thicker. Brakes should kill the engine easily, unless you're in low gear. Speedo issue is likely a sensor or wiring problem. Ditto if the air cleaner light and trans temp light are always on as well. Fix the warning light issue and the chime will stop. I would not disable the chime, as you will need it to alert you if something bad happens. [Reply]  [No Email]

Any guess why the brakes aren't operating independently? For the speedo, could the unit on back of the pump have gone bad all of a sudden? Those brake systems were unique to the TW30 and TW35 tractors. I have never worked on one, and I don't have the manual nearby to look at. The manual attached is what you need to troubleshoot your dash. At 66 pages, it is almost as thick as the IT manual you were looking at. I can scan some pages for you if you'd like and sent it to you via pdf. Leave your e-mail open if you'd like it. Foam your chime all you want. [Reply]  [No Email]
