Coyote Green 10-01-2012 20:07:56 67.214.194.155 Report to Moderator	I was wondering if anyone has any advice on replacing a thermostat on a Mobility Big Dipper loader, this has the Ford Industrial 172ci engine, i believe this engine to out of a Ford 800 tractor? I just got this loader, i got it running but it's running hot, everything seems to be working so my best guess is the thermostat is bad. I got a replacement and i got everything apart just to find out that the thermostat is gone? i was wondering which way the thermostat faces? I also noticed that there is a little brass/copper piece on the edge that moves, but when i go to put the thermostat in, the little piece doesn't fit right and if i tighten it it will get smashed? I flushed out the whole system, the fins in the radiator were clean, and the pump is working. I filled the whole thing full of water because i didn't want to waist new antifreeze if i had to drain it. So far it seems to stay cool. I will drain the water and mix half water and antifreeze like it should be. I wounder if it wasn't the antifreeze the whole time? Thanks for the help   [Reply]  [No Email]

I just put a thermostat in it last week. I got it from Carquest and it included a gasket that had adhesive on the housing side. If it drops out and you tighten the two bolts that hold the elbow you will break the casting.   [Reply]  [No Email]

From what I can gather, the looseness is designed to let air escape so that you don't get a vacuum in the system (unless maybe you just have the wrong part) Learned it here!
