My control valve on my 3400 Ford tractor with a 730 loader is leaking. Can this be rebuilt? Also my loader controls are very sensitive when operated and if you aren"t careful the bucket will be very jerky. Is there anything I can do to prevent the controls from being so sensitive? It looks like I need to take the control valve off anyway to repair the leaks. Thanks |

| Hi Fred
"If" your valve has "O" rings, and not worn excessively, yes, it can be re-built to stop leaking.
I have modified jerky valves by grinding a small "V" in the leading edge(s) of the spool and cleaning up with crocus cloth. This allows feathering of the valve in one or more directions. This is not something that someone with little experience should do, as the clearance on these valves is in microns. I would suggest you have a shop perform the repair if you are not comfortable with doing it, and ask them if they can/will do as suggested.
Note, not every shop will do this, as it can lead to valve failure if not done correctly. |
