Hey can anyone help me with a Restored NAA ignition 12V Negative Ground Ignition Circuit? I have on my ignition circuit: Battery Cable to Solenoid, +DC from Solenoid to Ammeter, through the ammeter, Ammeter to Batt on Ignition switch, Under same lug on ammeter as +DC from solenoid, I have cable going to Batt on Altenator. From other side of solenoid I have cable going to starter. From small lug on solenoid, I have wire going to ST on ignition switch. Lights are hooked up on ACC on ignition Switch. #1 lug on Altenator is hooked up on IGN on ign switch. #2 on Altenator is bonded to BATT from Altenator going to one side of Ammeter. Tractor started fine ran good for 10 minutes, then died. I had installed Petronix Electronic Ignition 2 years ago. Changed Coil and tractor started and ran well. Went to turn key off and tractor would not shut off? What have I done wrong? Please Help!! |

| Quoting Removed, click Modern View to see By using the accessory position for alt #1, you can skip the diode (some will say it isn't best way, but it works).
If it has been OK for 2 years without the resistor, then it likely does not need one. Pertronix instructions say that the total coil plus any added resistance should add up to 3 Ohms.......some coils alone will be 3 or more. |

What have I done wrong? This: " #1 lug on Altenator is hooked up on IGN on ign switch. " Move that wire to accessory. There are other options too. |

| Thanks for the help. That fixed my problem. Now, one more quick thing, on my 12 volt negative ground, Do I need the diode on the # 1 wire coming from the Altenator, if so, what size? Also, do I need a resistor coming from coil to the switch? If so, what size on that too. Thanks for any and all help. My father had restored this tractor several years ago, and he passed away 2 years ago. I did not have a lot of experience with this tractor. |
