white halftrack 09-24-2012 19:24:31 69.80.123.107 Report to Moderator	Hi, I ran across a nice almost complete Industrial power unit. It is a 172 unit with a rockwell gearbox and hand clutch. It is really nice with original paint, tin, etc. I was thinking about taking the engine block out for a tractor, but it seems too complete and nice to pull apart. Are there any uses for such an animal? I do not have an irrigation to run. I hate to pull it apart, and it even has the original decals, but it has to earn its keep. Anyone collect these? So it appears that it was a 6V system converted to 12V? Being that it has an alternator. Was there originally some frame underneath the enigne that it sat on? Were there originally side panels covering the engine? I'm curious as to what it can be used for. Maybe a sawmill? Or a back up generator? That one looks like it was mounted on a baler or picker or something not using the Ford Frame . Most of mine are on original Ford Skid Frames which could be used to drag them just about any where because they look like ski's , and one of mine is on the original Ford trailer frame so it can be towed over the road . Yes there is suppose to be side panels on them but I have never had a set or even seen a set but most of mine have wear marks where they were on them at one point in time . I have one that runs a Backup generator , one runs a Selecto-o-speed test stand and one has a water pump on it . I also sent one MILITARY 8N POWER UNIT with a water pump on it down to Dennis Carpenter's Ford Museum , the only only Military unit we have ever seen , even had the original waterproof ignition system just like the Jeeps had . wisbaker 09-24-2012 22:32:55 207.118.147.3 Report to Moderator	Re: Ford Industrial Power Unit in reply to white halftrack, 09-24-2012 19:24:31   I had one with a 6x8x12 pump on it we used to pump tallow and yellow grease onto ships. would also work on a cord wood saw, generator, air compressor, welder, small saw mill, feed grinder, winch, elevator or conveyor, blower fan or sell it to the Amish and they'll mount it on a baler or something.   [Reply]  [No Email]
