Sean in PA 09-24-2012 09:54:16 71.224.102.32 Report to Moderator	I finally got around to installing my loader on my '73 4000 this weekend. It's been sitting in my yard for 5 years now, but there was always something to do that was more important., but not this weekend. It's a Freeman loader that's supposed to be close to the same vintage as my tractor. I bought it cheap because there was no control valve and all of the lines and cylinder rams were rusted and pitted, so I just used the frame, arms and bucket, and basically built everything else up from scratch. All in all, about $600.00 including what I paid for the loader, replacement cylinders, joystick control valve and power beyond plate. A loaders is like having a hired hand without the cost.LOL. You get it finished off and some paint and that will be a good loader.And the price was right. They're $16.95 now, but I bought mine a few years ago. If you've got existing lines and are trying to add quick disconnects, you may need to replace the lines with shorter ones, or reroute the lines to get the room you need. I used a pair of short hoses from the remote ports on my power beyond plate, and another pair of short hoses on the "In" and "Out" ports of my control valve, and I put the quick disconnects on the ends of those short hoses. That way, if I ever disconnect the loader from the tractor, I can loop the two hoses on the power beyond plate together. [Reply]  [No Email]

Then I kept my eye open at surpluscenter.com for about 2 years. The 2 lift cylinders were $83.00 a piece, and the bucket cylinder was another $97.00, and they were all within an inch or so of being exact matches for the original cylinders that were on the loader when I bought it. I got a 50 foot length of 3500 psi 1/2" hose for $35.00 off a guy on craigslist who had bought a couple of hundred feet originally and didn't need the rest and I've got a friend who works at a shop that has the tool for crimping the ends on, so he got me the ends for cost and crimped them up for me for free. Another $60.00 or so for swivel elbows, and a couple of quick disconnects for $14.00 a piece. The guy that sold me the loader also gave me 2 dual spool control valves that I didn't use because I wanted the joystick style, and they were both the type with 2 separate handles. I'll get around to selling them one of these days and hopefully make some of my money back. [Reply]  [No Email]
