I am replacing the swing chain on a 1974 ford 4500 backhoe, in order to do this I have to get the swing cylinder rods to come out of the cylinders,I have not been able to do this, any ideas? |

| | Extend the hoe while on a level surface but don't let it touch the ground. Release the bleeder screws on the combination valve and push the hoe arm, by hand, to the side with the broken chain. Or, you could use a come-along attached to the bucket to pull the cylinders out after opening the bleeder screws. Jim |

| Tried the above and could not get the cylinder to pull out,I turned out the screws next to the spool valves, also disconnected the relief lines between the two cylinders,is there another place to relieve the hydraulic pressure? |

| | The only place is at the combination valve unless you want to take the pressure hoses off the cylinder. The combination valve is where the 2 pressure hoses coming off the cylinders attach. Jim |
