It happened again!! 2nd tractor stolen. Our family property is in rural Missouri and the area around us is quite poor. I work hard to make payments on the farm and my house and keep everything running. 3 weeks ago we got in our food plots for the fall and things were looking great. Went down this weekend to find the locks at the gate cut and the tractor gone. I did everything I could to prevent this. I took the battery every time. I took off one of the front tires. I put the biggest chain I could buy through both back wheels and around the frame but that only slowed them down. I feel like I lost a family member. I loved that blue machine. I have spent a lot of money and time working on that tractor. That 1966 was running fantastic! Hours on the carb, New clutch, new tires, new paint, steering shaft seal, lots of TLC and now I have to start over again. What do I have to do? Down there they have time and everyone has a truck, a chainsaw, bolt cutters and a trailer. I feel at this point like selling the place and buying a new Mustang... Good thing I had insurance on it but how long will that be affordable after this claim. Thanks for letting me vent Pissed off in Mo. |

| lots of game cameras will help.
also, as you are putting cameras in,
put up LOTS of signs saying cameras are in use.
will deter the casual bad guys.
A 'bait' camera works well too.
camera in plain sight near the gate.
when they laugh and go to steal it, put a small
sign on the camera that says:
"your picture was just taken by a camera you don't see"
You don't need to inform them of course, but I do at camp,
because I want them to bail before they steal something.
neighbor at camp has a very loud siren and battery mounted up a tree,
and the trigger sensor in his shed with its wires going up the tree.
when the siren goes off the thief will cut the wire,
which does nothing of course, the siren and it's battery are activated and
up the tree.
even if its a remote location, bad guys don't like noise
if you never take your tractor anywhere, and don't care how it looks,
paint on the sides of the hood:
"This tractor is being stolen- call 911" :D

fatbob50,
I don't likely know the area as well as you do, but I would assume the tractor was stolen from the northwest corner of Reynolds Co., maybe 15 or 20 miles from Salem. His only comment about Potosi was a comment that he had heard it can be a rough area. I understand being from the "Show Me" state, but feel you blew it here. I don't see him trying to hide anything AND the chances of the tractor being within 100 miles of home would seem slim to me.

| I can understand that you do not want anyone to know your exact location, if that is the case you should say so instead of giving folks misleading areas to watch for your tractor. Actually, Potosi is in Washington County, Salem is in Dent County and Reynolds County is a far piece off from either of them. For all the locations that you mention, you are spread out over half the state. I wanted to help keep an eye out until I realized you was just gaming us. I am in Missouri and am familiar with the counties in this state. Not to mention that I have friends in the Salem area. |

| My suggestion is get a camera system. I have purchased several for our barns and places where people have broken in before. Its just a matter of time before they hit it again but now I'm confident we will catch them. I purchased a Lorex LW 491 4 camera system. It is relatively easy to use. Only takes an SD card and its motion activated an infared for catching them at night. All you need is a duplex outlet and you are in business. Not that expensive either, I only paid around $425.00 for mine and trust me you have to catch these people because most law enforcement agencies aren't that interested in recovering your stuff so you have to be proactive about it, sad really. If all else fails gets some deer cameras and put them up because if they hit it once, they will be back. |

| One of the best placements for a camera is where it will pick up the plates of the vehicle the are using!! A partial with type and color of truck goes a long way, if don't end up getting full plate. Talk to the detectives working the case and see what else they can think of for placement.
Am off tomorrow so will dig around net for ideas on "Lojack for Tractor" device. It may be as simple as wiring up a 12v charge cord under the hood for a cell phone. Many many apps out there for tracking cell's nowadays, and cheap prepaid phones can do all kinds of things.
If thats what you choose to do, make sure to leave gps on, and RINGER OFF!! That way they don't know its there  . |

| | Looked at the lojack and gps tracking already. We don"t get cell signal where we are so gps tracking is the way to go. Also lojack does not show Mo. on their map of coverage. Like a pain full breakup, it looks like it is time to move on, unless that snow ball has a chance. Seems like lots of talk about stolen tractors in this part of the state go back to Potosy, Mo. Seems to be a bad drug area. However how far will a thief haul a tractor at O"dark thirty in the A.M. Has to have a friend close, |

| Thanks everyone for your support. Here is the serial # C146933 6H18 I know there is a snowballs chance in hell this will show up. It was taken from Reynolds Co. outside of Salem. I will just have to wait for insurance to do its job and then get some good no flash cameras. They may find one or two but they will not get them all before i get them next time. Can you still get land mines? |

| Rea, If I had two tractors stolen, I would invest in deer cameras and research lo-jack or something like on-star to locate tractor. Not sure what's out there. I've seen on TV where contractors use gps to locate stolen equipment. Sister has something on her trucks to locate where their employees are using a computer.Get mad, then fight back. I'm sure your investment will be less than your deductable. Just wondering what locating device is needed to get the cops to respond. George |

| Rae,
Sorry to hear about your tractor, those folks need some jail time and restitution duties. Good luck finding your tractor, if you post some info here, I will try to keep an eye out in this corner of the state. Your welcome to email me as well if you prefer.

| Sorry for the loss. If this is common around you may want to look into a GPS locator. You buy the locator and put it on the tractor in a hidden spot. If it is ever stolen you activate the system for a small cost to locate it. No monthly fees. I think Smart tracker is one like this. |

| | Mighty hard to do any tillage with a Mustang! It sounds like you did all you could to keep it from getting stolen. Guess you"ll have to get another, along with a pick up and a trailer and haul it back and forth. The SOB"s weren"t detered by your attempts to secure your property. In reality, nothing will stop a determined theif except maybe a .38! Sorry for your loss. |

| Motion sensitive deer cameras with infrared and motion sensor much cheaper than new tractor.
Pics, Type/Model/Serial # etc. maybe can find on accident for you and help bust the twit.
And what part of MO? |

| Might also use searchtempest dot com to search craigslist all around you. It probably won't show up right away but you never know. Also check other sites like tractorhouse. Lastly, check with used eqpt dealers and (I hope not) scrapyards. |

Maybe someone here may spot it for you.
I hope you get it back.

| Ya some places in misery or Missouri are bad about that happening. I know I have had carb stolen off a tractor before. Where you at?? There are a good number of us in Missouri and maybe we can find your tractor and get the guy who took it behind bars where he belongs |
