That was a pretty good question, UD. Figures that a 17TF battery is 3" shorter and 1-1/4" narrower than the 4DLT, but it needs a tray that looks to be longer and just as wide. :^)

The 5000 diesel tray looks like the top one only a little longer to hold a 4DLT battery.

Top one is a standard 2/3/4/26/3600, etc Diesel battery tray. Second one from a 5000 gasser. I don't know what a diesel tray looks like for those tractors. The bottom one is a gasser tray for 2/3/26/4600, etc

I had no guesses... all I've messed with had trays for 4DLT's. A 256 gasser spins over real well with a 4DLT. :)

| Top one looks like it could be for a 4630, but the bracket that sticks out for the pivot pin is missing.
Bottom one looks like the one in my '73 gasser 4000.

Without going out to the shop to look, I'm think the bottom one holds a 17TF battery from e.g. a 3000 gasser. I don't think any of these could hold a 4DLT from a thousand series diesel, so I must be missing something. Post the answers please! :^)

rd, Sort of correct. I will give away that your 2000 must be a gasser. But a 65 would have been a one piece tray - ie the tray was not seperable from the bracket that bolted to the back of the head. Mid 68 and later models had the pivot pin that could be removed so the tray came off but the head bracket stayed in place. This one is the late style. I have an early style gas tray here too but didn't think to include it in the photo.
