In re powering the 821 backhoe Loader I need to transplant the from pulley drive from the jeep engine. The pulley has a spider hub with rubber grommets made from a snap-on hex socket,I drive shaft with hex end a universal spline to drive the front pump of the 19-97.1) The socket drive needs to fit inside the front support hub. Do I have to push the socket into the support pipe before the engine is lowered into the bell housing? 2)Does this look like a good drive, or will it tear apart the ford pulley like it did the jeep? 3)How deep can the pulley bolts go into the pulley? (0.65 seems to hit an obstruction)? 4)Will thread lock help keep bolts tight? Thanks |

| Hello George , All of the parts pictured are junk , the correct parts are available aftermarket . The u-joint drive is for the larger hydraulic pumps with larger bearings in them , yours probably has 6203 bearings in it and they are not large enough to support that kind of weight . Need to see pictures of the pump to what type it is . Thanks Tony |

| | Tony; This farmer went to extremes to install the 62 jeep engine. Cutting, sledging, making engine supports and long metal struts to support the motor. He could have saved time and money to buy a replacement 801 motor in the early 70's. I do not know how many years the front pump worked on the jeep pulley. here are some pictures on the pump: Believe it or not I bolted up the front support on the motor and bolted up the spider hub with the socket running inside the cylinder and rotated the flywheel. I ground down enough of the socket to allow perfect clearance inside the pipe assembly. So I guess I have positioned the two holes in the support flange weld just right. |

| Hello George , Your pump is larger than the stock 703 pump probably from a 4400 or 3500 loader backhoe tractor but don't know if it has the larger bearing in it for sure . Judging by the depth around the shaft it does not have the wider heavy bearing in it . If you got it all lined up to work use it , I would at a bare minimum replace the rear bearing and seal in the pump just for insurance it is easier now while it is all apart . They all go bad and leak it is quite common . Thanks Tony |
