This one is a gasoline engine. It would buck and spit and run out of gas at full throttle.
I hope what I found will help some of you with brief run or no run issues on your 4 cylinder pre-65 engines.
Here it is: I found two pieces of fibrous type material in the sediment bowl head above the strainer. These were restricting fuel flow through the sediment bowl assembly itself. My carburetor was starving for fuel.
It runs like a Ford again now!!!! Or at least I ran it 3 + miles @ WOT in 10th gear with no issues whatsoever after cleaning and reassembling. I hope this helps someone else out. It sure had me thrown for a loop. But a bit of tracing where the fuel flow stopped found the problem. Best thing: NO NEW PARTS!!!! |

| That's a good find, Larry. Proper troubleshooting is always better than throwing parts at things. Any idea how the material got above the screen? Possibly parts of the bowl gasket? -Will |
