Thought I'd finally fix the old girl up a bit. Put on a new power steering pump which I obtained from BrokenTractors.com.
Steering was sweet for about 5 minutes . . . until it blew a steering line between the left cylinder and the control valve in the steering column. BT does not have a listing for this hose, CONN3C769A.
Does anyone know a source for one? NH wants $150.00 for one if they can locate it. It is NLS by them.
Thanks! |

| John, please start a new thread the next time you wish to ask a question on a different subject rather than hijacking one. Thanks!
Furthermore, I don't know anything in an SOS tranny that I'd call a countershaft nor anything that Ford would call a countershaft. So - sorry, but can't help you with this one. |

| Larry, i understand from your previous posts that you're a S.O.S. mechanic. Trying to get my 1968 5000 rowcrop diesel back together. have tractor split to replace front roller pump(had a friend do it 20 years ago, it's out again) and found a brass thrust washer on the bottom of the case, just in front of bottom access hole. Manual warned about not moving the countershaft or this could happen. Now it's a done deal, can the thrust washer be put back up on the shaft without removing the trans from the rearend section, or if i start removing the countershaft will other things start dropping to the bottom of the case? Am anxious to get this back together without finding even more bad news. thanks, John |

| I believe you're talking about the input shaft thrust washer. If so, I think you are out of luck. About the only way you will get that back in is to split it in the back and start pulling everything out the back until you get to that spot. |

A quick Google search for that part number shows a bunch of places that sell replacement hoses for that line for around $35.00. |

| I'd get out the old double flare tool kit and make my own for that kind of money. Besides, even if you could order it, it would likely be bent all out of shape once UPS got done with it anyway. |
