WE have a mid 1950 Fordson Major Diesel that we recently checked PTO speed. Found PTO to be turning 546 rpm with engine at 1200 rpm and at 1920 engine rpm PTO speed was near 860 rpm.The PTO speed is high in my experience- we looked for possible 2 speed PTO selector on trans, but did not see one. Can anyone shed some light on this issue? Thanks, Loren |

| Your numbers are actually a little lower than what tractorsdata.com shows. They claim the Fordson Major had a PTO speed of 574 rpm at 1200 engine rpm. |

| depending on what he's using to measure..I'd say he's in range ok .. might be a bouncy tach.. and a contact wheel type reader.. or a laser reder.. both of which may have accuracy issues. |

| Yes, the PTO rpm changes with engine rpm. |

| | ratio is looking pretty close, especially allowign for slippage if using a wheel type speed indicator and looking at a bouncy master tach. soundguy |
