Thanks |

| Case/IH Hy-Tran, JD HY-Guard, Amoco 1000, Mobil 423, Massey Perma-Tran III, in other words ANY high grade hydraulic transmission fluid. |

| So hydraulic transmission fluid is same as power steering fluid? Honeslty i find that strange? Why does NH and others list them seperatly? Seems to me they must provide different performance parameters? |

| This system specifies 134D. Those that Ian listed are functionally equivelant. 134D is NOT the same as power steering fluid. The cold harsh reality about that steering system is this... it can use just about any medium weight oil that's not water laden. PS fluid, ATF, 134D/TDH, 10W30 engine oil and if it's warm enough... 15W40. I've got 10W30 in one right now for no other reason than the shaft seal is leaking in the pump... it ran dry... and the nearest oil can I had contained 10W30 engine oil. Rod |

| yep you guys are right as it just takes the 134 hydraulic fluid. Darn i had that at home. Ended up putting power steering fluid in it so go figure. Plan to drain the oil and change the filter anyway tomorrow. Thanks for everyones responses. |

| I know a guy who does something like that on a 6600. The PS pump leaks so bad that when it gets low, he drains some oil out of the crankcase and plops it back into the PS. The oil in the steering system is as black as the engine. |

| | I'd like to say I wouldn't do THAT... but the truth is that the idea crossed my mind that day. I had several hundred bales to gather off a field with drops of rain in the air. I was actually going to pull a loader ram hose off and aim it right in the res and fill her up. lol. Luckily I found some clean oil first. Rod |
