I have a Ford 7000 that the three point doesnt hold in one place. I tried moving the draft lever to all postions and it doesnt seem to make a differnce. It seems like when you push the clutch in it settles a little then bounces back up. What needs to be adjusted or replaced to fix this condition?Thanks Jason |

| Thanks for the suggestions. I hope it is just stuck mis adjusted linkages somewhere. This tractor also has a cab on it so taking the top cover off would be even more difficult. I have a shop manual but I find it difficult to understand. I usually just start taking things apart and use the manual as a reference. |

If you do have to remove the cover you shouldn't need to remove the cab. Usually just unbolting the back and jacking it up gives you enough room to slip it out with an engine lift. |

| | You better read up on that system before you go pulling the lift cover. The settings are fairly intricate. The manual will indicate the need for some special tools as well but if you read carefully the numbers you need are there to take the measurements with a caliper depth gauge and some ingenuity. Rod |

| If I was to make and educated guess I'd say there is a problem with the system selector linkage and it's stuck on 'Load Monitor' regardless of where the lever sits in the quadrant right now. The bobbing in conjunction with clutch operation suggests that to me... as that is fairly normal behaviour for the devil. Check all of the joints and connections in the selector linkage, roll pins, etc. Make sure it's moving correctly. Also make sure the gland nut on the draft ram (top link) is tight. Sometimes they back off and cause strange problems. Otherwise you're likely going to need to pull the lift cover off. That's not so much fun...Rod |

| As stated, clutch operation should make no difference. You either have a leaking seal in the lift cylinder, or else a worn control valve. Pulling out on the ASC valve will help to isolate the problem. If it holds then, it is NOT the lift cylinder. |

| Bern et al, If this 7000 has Load monitor and it is locked in load monitor (for some unknown reason), could that explain what it is doing. e.g. Load monitor would respond by lifting the lift arms if pressure is applied to the drive train. Keith |

| | You're right Keith, I forgot that all 7000s have Load Monitor - good call!. A heavy draft load should make the arms come up, and then settle back when the clutch is depressed. As I recall from the original post though, it was doing it regardless of the position of the draft lever. In position control and draft control, it should not do this, unless something became disconnected inside. |

| most likely you need a new O-ring on your lift piston. You will need to remove your rear axle cover to get at it. It is a fairly involved project so don't attempt it without a shop manual. |
