Anybody ever own/run a 906 rotary mower? Parts diagram on Messicks says they were built from 73-77. It's 7' wide and has twin rotors on it. Interestingly enough the rotors don't have the big stump jumper/round plate under them. Just a T shaped spindle with the typical folding blades. |

| I ended up with this thing by mistake. I thought I was bidding on a 7' Mott flail mower but somehow misbid and was the high bidder on this. It's not too bad of shape. I checked the oil in it yesterday, hooked it up to my tractor and spun it up. It runs very quiet. (belt drive) I didn't have a good place to try it out here in town but did find an empty lot and cut a few weeds with it. It did cut pretty good. It needs a tail wheel. Not sure if I want to spent $63 + for a wheel from King Kutter but I might. I might just bring it up to my land and give it a go. It's pretty heavy for my 4000. Makes the front end light even with two 80lb weights on the front. I'd really like to find a Bush Hog brand 306 6' rotary. By the way, I read somewhere that Ford was something of a pioneer in rotary cutters. They made them for chopping corn stalks after harvesting the ears but before plowing. Maybe from there they evolved into the rotary mowers we're familiar with today. Maybe this was made for that application and not heavy brush. FordFarmer ID'd this for me btw. Thanks Mark. And thanks to all for your replys.

| Sales literature puts it at a little over 1000 pounds, so yeah, that much weight that far back... 7' only (maybe they reused the model number later on?), 540 or 1000 rpm, 3-point or pull type. It's pictured on a 3400 in the sales literature...but the 3400 is wearing a loader, too. I can't imagine 40 h.p. was going to cut very big stuff 7' at a swipe. That old MF cutter I have doesn't have a stump jumper either. Maybe that was optional way back when? |

| | I guess Ford made the 906 in more than one width. Mine is a 5 footer...no stump jumper on it either. It sure cuts better & quieter than my 6' Howse w/ stump jumper. Jeff |

| Ultradog, Hello, I guess it depends on what you want to do with it. I bought a Bush hog brand with the stump jumper flywheel just to mow fields and it was a mistake as it sucked a lot more fuel spinning that flywheel, make a 35 horse tractor groan bringing it up to speed. On the flips side it will grind up anything you can run over with the tractor and is more suited to grinding brush. cheers-ed |

| I have a 100" Model 902 which is very similar. I only use it to mow my grass fields which don't have any stumps or large rocks that I'd need to jump over. It works fine for what I use it on. |

| Thanks Tim. It looks like they made them in a pull behind too. This one is offset. Not a bad idea.
