Hey Guys. Anybody know if a 1973 Ford 3000 has a hydraulic filter or screen and if so where is it located? Thanks. Austin. |

| Another thing to note. The return filter has a bypass valve for when filter gets too clogged, so the pickup screen would be the only thing that coul be clogged to the point of restricting the flow. Have you checked the flow control knob to make sure that it is all of the way in? Turning it in speeds up the hydraulic flow and turning it out slows it down. |

| Thanks Sean. I guess I will pull the cover and check. The pump has been rebuilt and the seals in the remote coming off the top plate have been replaced and the hydraulics are still really slow. It has a front blade on it and it works slow but the lift doesnt want to move very fast either. It has plenty of fluid and has been bled properly. It seems to be very restricted. |

| It has both a pickup line screen and a return line filter. The screen is meant to be cleaned and re-used, and the filter is meant to be replaced. They are both located inside the rear axle center housing. I believe that you have to pull the top cover off of the center housing to get to them. The top cover is the large steel plate that the seat bolts to that also has the upper lift arms attached. Depending on exactly which transmission and PTO variant you have you may need to pull the PTO shaft to get to the filter. |
