Is there anyone who can help me. I'm rebuilding a 1941 9N while trying to replace the wrist-pin bushings I measured bore in pushrod [no bushing] I got .799 .800 .800 .811 tec dept. at yesterday's tractor said the three pushrods that measure .799 .800.800 are wrong pushrods becouse wrist-pin bushing O.D is .810 has anyone ever ran into this before..010 is way to much press.. 2 of the three pushrods are stamped 9n And yesterdays tech dept. said there was only one casting# for pushrods they should all be .810 what am I suppost to do now......please Help... |

| Unless you have the specialized equipment needed to press in the bushings and precision-hone them while keeping the "big end" and wristpin bores parallel, for gosh sakes take them to an automotive machine shop that has the proper (precision) equipment for the job! |

| I know what you mean bob I am a machinest by trade and my father is a machinest with a full machine shop being said i just know that a .010 of an inch press with a solid bushing is way to much. i've never worked with a split bushing before i guess you learn something every day!!thank you and mark for all your feedback you guys are really helpful!!! by the way I pressed them in today they worked out great..i wouldnt of beleved it. thank you again mark!!! |

| | What you are working on are connecting rods not push rods. If you are reusing the connecting rods that were removed from the engine I would think they must have been okay. Have you tried installing the bushing? Mark |

| no I Was told i would ruin them If I tried the bushing measures .808 to .817 they seem a little out of round but should only get better pressed in the bore of the connecting rod it just seemes like to much. are the tolorences that bad even that one connecting rod at.811 that bushing was bigger than the rest |

| | I've probably done 20-25 N engines over the years and have never checked the bore in the connecting rod or the OD of the bushings and have never had a problem. I have alwas just installed new bushings and sized them to the wrist pins. They are a split bushing and will compress when installed so you are getting a non compressed measurement. Mark |
