Couple things recently came to my attention:

The VFTR has been "reproduced" and is still on line? Interesting.

A certain university used a page from my web site as a part of their CAD/CAM course "Advanced Topics in Design and Manufacturing; Actuators and Performance Characteristics/ Hydraulic system." The question was raised on these forums about who "copied" information (text and illustrations) from whom.

I sent an email query to the university, and they immediately removed my content from the course. Their decision, btw.

When I published the VFTR I did not care who used my info, but to copy my information, text, and illustrations and take credit for them is going a little overboard.

Sorry to come off so strong, but the suggestion on these boards that I copied the text and illustrations from this certain university, rather than the other way around, stung a bit.

Regards,

Dan Dibben

Dan;

I am the person responsible for the "new" VFTR site. Let me explain what happened...

While surfing around a few years ago I found that your site had been archived by archive.org:

http://web.archive.org/web/20051223033225/http:/members.aol.com/naa60512/naa.htm

Their archiving is temporary...you never know when it is going to become unavailable. I decided to make my own copy so it would not be lost, and published it publicly, at:

http://66.49.166.42/VFTR/naa.htm

If you go to the contact page you will see the intention of this was honest - I did not try to misrepresent the effort, rather to preserve it and be a reference to anyone requiring the information. I have had a few queries generated, but I usually send the requester to the ytmag.com site.

My intention was never to take credit - simply preservation. If you would like to see it gone, let me know.

Hello Dan;

Seeing that it was 3 years or so when you took the site down for a rework, is there any possibility it will be coming up soon? It was a fantastic site and undoubtedly reflected considerable knowledge, research and time on your part. I have noticed over the years many have referred to it and I would think that many miss it just as I do. I for one hope you bring it back. Is there any assistance that can be given to see it come back? Perhaps not many in the past have thanked you, I do thank you for all you put into it. I have learned much.
