Ok I went and looked at a 6610 S tractor serial # begins with 333 What year would this be ? What engine would this have in it? The oil filter is verticle if that helps.I believe it is an 8/2 transmission. Are these a good tractor ? What does the S stand for ? Thanks |

| Thought it was brazil were they were made, or maybe that was the engines?? And assembly in mexico.. its been too long since I read the history books. I remember a 268 block.. but thats awful foggy as well. about 24 to 28000 new or thereabout... seen em on sell for half that brand new when things were slow. Used to climb all over them at the yearly stock show and drool. |

| If these are made in Mexico are they a cheaper machine that wont hold up or are they reliable ? Where are the new ones made now are they Mexico also ? I like the looks of the tractor but will they hold up like the older 7000 tractors that were tough to tear up ? |

| | I like my 7610s, and sure get alot of use out of it.. it pulls a jd 1517 15' batwing. Our county had a fleet of 5610s, 6610s, and 7610s for chores like mowing and such.. IMHO.. good machines relating back to the 5xxx/7xxx and 66xx series. soundguy |

| | The final assembly was done in Mexico... I dunno if it was for market reasons or tarriff reasons... but Mexico... Quarterro I think? The tractor is a bare back 6640 PowerStar 'S' dressed up to look like a 6610 with it's manual controls. Another way of putting it... it's a 6610 with a 304 Genesis engine. The components are all Basildon (UK) made the same as the 6610 was. Just the final slap together was done in Mexico. Should be a good tractor if it's not beat to death. UNIT code should determine date of assembly. Rod |

| | I have a 7610s.. I like the tractor.. I believe they are mexican assembled.. etc. there will be date code info on the trans bellhousing pretty much like every other ford 55+ I know my engine is 304ci in my 7610s, and is turbocharged. I'm thinking the 6610s is pretty much the same machine detuned .. maybee smaller tires.. maybee not... should put out about 80 pto hp.. and I DO think it's the same 304ci block.. the 8x2 tranny is a decent crash box.. not much change on it from 1965.. only gripe is ya got a choice of a slow reverse.. or a fast reverse.. :) soundguy |
