Im looking for the bolt that goes through the sediment/filter assembly. There is two sizes.Im in need of the smaller one which is used in all the smaller 134/172 carbs. I checked with Dennis Carpenter catalog and didnt see one. Has any one found a source. Thanks Mark

Any of the used parts dealers should have one. I make my own when needed by drilling a Grade 2 bolt. It's called a "stem" in Ford Parts language.

It should be available from CNH. I would not expect to find new ones available from aftermarket sources.

If I recall correctly, I think they are called 'banjo' bolts. The New Holland dealership can order one for you. If they don't have one in stock.

I posted measurments on that bolt a while back. Some of these bolts are drilled wrong and can cause hi rpm fuel starvation. No need to use a grade 2 bolt. just makes drilling harder. No one showed interest in the post.My bolt was drilled wrong. This may be in the archives so check there. You need a 5/16 copper washer on either side of the sediment bowl casting.Soundguy may have made notes on it.I will look for my notes so watch the forum.

The stock bolt may have to be drilled deeper and the cross hole has to be moved.Posters seem to have more concern for the right shade of psint.

CNH sells a new bolt for the 1958 and later small diameter sediment bowls, the 1955-1957 with the large diameter sediment bowls are not made anymore, the passage hole is at a different location on each bolt which is important to avoid gas starvation, also remember sediment bowls could have been swapped over the years so go by the diameter of the bowl not the year of the tractor.

Thanks everyone for taking the time to respond. Unless you want to make your own I was afraid New Holland might be the only source. 36coupe I spent about 45 minutes searching the archives for your post you mentioned on this subject without success. Do you remember an approximate date of that post? Mark

Mark, a tape measure ought to get you there. Look inside the sediment bowl for the annular ring/fuel circuit and measure to align the hole in tube with that ring. 3/8 or 7/17 diameter hole/tube should be easy to measure, too.

Thanks Jmor, Thankyou for your efforts in responding
with photo and all, its really appreciated, . Im a
little confused with the pipe instead of a bolt and
the brass fitting thats shown. Mark

Its in there.last Dec.I asked if anyone was interested.no replies.I found one page of the notes, but cant find the page with the dimensions.First, drill center hole 1 and 1/8 deep.Drill cross hole 1 inch on center from threaded end of bolt.Cross hole is.070,center hole is 1/8.ID of filter casting is .390.All the gas has to flow thru two .070 holes. The bolt is 3/8 or .375.Not much room for gas to flow. You need a drill press to make or modify this bolt.If you do buy a new bolt make sure the center hole is 1 and 1/8 deep.I checked every thing with dial calipers.Once my bolt was modified and there was no interest on the forum I saw little value in keeping the notes.

Correction.I did not post the measurements but said I would if anyone wanted them.No reply so the paper with the measurement is lost.

(quoted from post at 06:39:42 02/28/12) Thats not the stock setup. Its been fooled with.
6c is correct in not being original. It was a bolt (not a double ended (stud?) with acorn nut that I pictured. I, however, did & do not have a picture showing the bolt detail. With ALL the above, you ought to be able to make one.

36coupe, Thankyou again for all the measurements and remeasuring everything for me. Is the bolt anything special that you used to make it more like the original. Do they make a heavy head bolt in that size with fine threads. Do you remember the length and did you need to shorten the bolt to get exact length. Hope I can return the favor sometime for all your help. Mark PS Im printing your post for now and future reference

I found the lost note this afternoon.I made a mistake on the cross hole diameter, trying to remember didnt work.I modified my bolt. These measurements are from an original bolt.Diameter .370 length overall 1+.620 length under head 1+.425 end drill depth .870 cross drilled at.675 from the threaded end.Cross drill size #31.center hole drill #24.These measurments are taken from the stock bolt with dial calipersThe bolt is threaded .520.Pitch is 24 threads per inch.To modify the bolt drill the center bolt hole 1.125 deep. Then drill the cross hole 1 inch from the threaded end of the bolt.No need to use a grade 2 bolt.I will go into the reason for modifying the stock in another post.Suppers ready.
