With respect to the idea of using a 3 wire system and the original larger generator pulley, is there a way to do this with my "1 wire alternator"? It has a rubber plug over 2 terminals that seem to be part of the regulator. Can I use them somehow to make this a 3 wire system? Or might it be possible to jsut use the system as one wire as long as I rev up the engine temporarily to energize the alternator to get it started. |

| Good question i got a one wire alt. from ebay once that i could not get working came with brackets belt ever thing but could not get it to work maybe i was doing something wrong then i found out how to wire it with 3 wires and it worked. They install something that's a self exciter that's why it needs to be revved up to charge. Pull off the rubber boot & look for the two tabs if there then yes. |

| Are the tabs marked 1 and 2? #2 tab goes to the theaded post, #1 tab goes to the key switch the post goes to the + side of the ammeter the - side goes to the key switch but now you need a 3 prong key switch one that has lights or accessory (acc.) so the alt. can be turned off if not the tractor will always run. The alternator will keep putting out power to the distributor. |
