When looking into the gearbox through the filler hole[ near stick shift] the oil does not seem to be very high even when the rear end dip stick shows full . The gear box sump seems to hold most of it . Presumably the gears fling it around when rotating. [Reply]  [No Email]

Seems like my 8N shows more oil lookin down the filler hole, maybe my imagination. Oil on the dipstick looks good. Feller that owns it doesn't know the maintenance history so I'll run it a while before I decide if it needs changing. May be a lot of water in the bottom. Just got thru shinin up the connections and she spins like a top now. I'll put some gas in tomorrow and see if she starts up.Thanks to all. DON TX [Reply]  [No Email]

What are ya'll calling the gearbox? I tend to believe the 23 litres is correct since the 3 compartments are contiguous. The hyd dipstick shows it's overfilled, yet I can barely see any oil in the transmission thru the filler up hole. It looks like it's only an inch or 2 deep. Transmission , gearbox, axle combination all filled from the gear box filler cap 23 litres. Steering box 2.9 litres. Front hubs , each .35 of a litre. Air cleaner .43 of a litre. I wont use imperial gallon measurements as they differ from US gallons and will only confuse the issue. [Reply]  [No Email]
