I bought a junker TO-20 last fall simply because it had a swing away bumper that I wanted to put on my TO-30. I figured I could part out the rest of the tractor and have a free bumper. Then a couple of weeks ago at an auction I found another one laying on the ground and bought it. I hadn't paid close attention and figured they were the same. Today I got them side-by-side and it is apparent from the axle brackets and style of construction that these two bumpers were made by the same company or maybe the same local shop, but they are slightly different in style. So which of the two would you put on your tractor?
The one on the left has fewer bars but has some style with the way the top bar is shorter than the lower bars and the top corner of the upper bar is rounded off.
The one on the right is bigger and would probably offer more protection.
Just fishing for opinions. These bumpers operate by pins in both sides. You can pull the pin on either side, swing the bumper away to allow the hood to be tilted forward. Or you can pull both pins and remove the bumper entirely.
If anyone is familiar with these bumpers and knows who made them, I'd like to know. Thanks! |

| I've not reinstalled the bumper on 1 of my 35's as I'm still tinkering with it but even so the plate below the grill bumps the axle housing and it's right at the pivot point of staying up or falling depending on the whether your on a level surface so I carry a 2/4 to prop it up, is this normal? |

| I"d say that the one on the left has had the top bars cut and rewelded for some reason. I say this because the welds don"t appear to be factory. I could be wrong, but that"s just the way it looks. Both would look good on the tractor. |

| I'm glad you posted that! I had never seen a bumper like that. My TO30 has a Ford bumper that someone cut the bars that bolt to the axle and extended it about six inches, but it still isn't enough to allow the hood to tilt properly. I just believe that I can modify it to swing away like those. |
