OK, I've given up here in the US trying to get a MF/AGCO dealer to order me one of these Ferguson Plough Spanners, new, in box. They ALL say the same thing -part no longer serviced, or no part number exists. I was at my local AGCO dealer and watched the counter man punch it up on his computer with no luck.

So, I am offering to buy one from one of you guys if you care to help me out. Email me and we'll work out details. Yes, I know there is one on eBay right now, but I contacted the seller(UK) and he will only accept PayPal which I no longer subscribe to. It seems the banking system in the UK is pretty flaky in that they have all kinds of extra fees and charges to cash an International US Postal Money Order or Certified Check, so much so that it ends up costing the customer twice as much as the value of the check. If anyone wants to help me get one of these tools for my collection, please contact me. Thanks.

Re: UPDATE on AGCO in reply to Tim PloughNman Daley, 11-17-2009 05:00:04
Tim

As I mentioned above, the spanner part number seems to be inhibited outside the UK. AGCO dealers in Australia were unable to obtain any details, price or order the part number.

I bought a dozen or so new spanners from various AGCO dealers in the UK, which was the only country where they appear to be available, and even then with some difficulty.

I have one on my desk as I post, I think the one I photographed in your post above. The embossed number is "EN19" and I think the original spanners given with new purchases of Fergy tractors in the 1950s were embossed "EN18". That appears to be the only difference.

The container states "827436M1 Plough Spanner" as you can see in the photo, but on the back it has:

"827436M1"

"UO1 = 1"

"K0260 GP"

No idea whether those other numbers may help. The container also has "© AGCO LTD" indicating it is a British product, rather than AGCO INC being their US products.

Hi Bob-
I'm starting to think that these are just some NOS parts, no longer made, and yes only available in the UK. I will try to call the Parts division in Batavia, IL, USA today as a last resort. I still need to know what the EN18 or 19 stands for and if there are CM marks on the back side. If you would be kind enough to send me a quote via email for one, new in box, we can start the negotiations. Thanks.

UPDATE on AGCO in reply to Tim PloughNman Daley, 11-17-2009 05:00:04
I found this info today on AGCO (USA) from Johns' info...

AGCO PARTS DIVISION
1500 Raddant Rd.
Batavia, IL 60510
1-630-879-3300

web site link takes you to: www.agcoparts.com

Now this is where you get to their home page which is just the one for all of US and Canada. They offer a "Heritage Line" of products for older tractors. I plug in the part number 827436M1 and still get 'no results found'. So this has been big circle jerk. I may try calling them tomorrow...

I sent you an email telling you that they have no stock of this in Batavia and it would have to be ordered via an MF dealer in the UK. I emailed MF in the UK to ask them and they checked with Batavia and there was no stock...wrenches must be a very slow mover in USA. You will not be able to order anything directly with Batavia as they only supply their dealers direct...John

Hi John-
Well, I still have not received any emails you sent me. Did you get the one I sent you? If not there is something squirrely going on here. Maybe I have been locked out or something...

That is all very odd Tim, I haven't had anything going wrong lately. If you drop me a line direct and I will see if I work it all out again. I did not receive any email from you.Usually if there is a problem with a wrong address or something like that it will be returned to you....John

I have four or five new spanners, in factory packing, which I can let you have, however they may be a little expensive as they also cost me air freight from the UK to Australia and you still need to add freight from Australia to the USA.

For whatever reason, they certainly do not appear to be available outside the UK.

But if you get stuck, email me: bfulton@goldenwest.org.au

Thanks, John. Like I said in the previous post a few weeks ago, I have close to a hundred of the plow wrenches in my collection, FORD, Ferguson, TO17014, EN18, 5C, MHF, Kvernlands, unmarked, a few with an English logo of the Staffordshire Knot and VBW, and a few others. I just wanted one of these in the box marked Harry Ferguson, Coventry, England. All your help is greatly appreciated.

I never thought about this when I wrote to you yesterday, but if you don't have any luck with those people I gave to you I suppose I could also let you have the address of MF Central Parts Operation here in the UK, I did have a contact there who may be able to help....John

Banner Lane no longer exists, it was demolished a few years ago. They use the Banner Lane address as it is known worldwide as the home of Ferguson, it was there for 60 years. The Parts Operation is elsewhere in Oxfordshire I think. The parts operation for the USA is in Batavia, Illinois...John

Hello John-
There must be a delay then, possibly being sent by boat -LOL!

One thing I just noticed in the picture of the packaged wrench and that is the 'EN18' on the right side. I have few of these as marked in my collection. Are there CM increments on the opposite side? What does EN18 stand for? I can only find AGCO Corporation located in Duluth, Georgia, USA, and no location given for Batavia, IL. Thanks

Yes there should be CM on the opposite side. Agco Head Office is in Duluth, Central Parts is in Batavia. I believe the EN18 is the type of steel used, thats what I was told anyway.....John

Tim , thats funny , I was going to direct this person to you ; but then your name showeed . If I was using paypal (which I"m not) I"d buy it & then ship it to you . Do you know someone that still trusts paypal enough that uses it , who will do the deal for you ? There usually a way around paypals greed . They really caused me a great problem a couple years ago .They said I owed them some money & started scamming my Visa acct & the also both of my checking accts until the banks had to close both accts . Paypal cost me over 1,000.00 in ISF charges because I didn"t have enough money to cover the first NSF charge . Then of course it snowballed . I even called paypal & aked them to cease . They have blocked my paypal acct which ceased some of my biddding abilities because they still say I owe them money .Paypal is a protected bunch of crooks .I have to use USPS money orders now . Do you have a pics of the wrench ? I have a couple old wrenches in the shop I"m not sure what they are for . God bless, Ken
