That oil is far too thin for those hydraulics and certainly too thin for the transmission, don't forget that it has to lube the rear axle as well and you do not use these hydraulic oils to do that. As John (Ont) says use 15W/30 or 15W/40 if you can only get that......John |

| | Thanks for the replies, fellows. Getting the 80W-90 gear oil is not a problem. I was just thinking that since newer tractors use the Trans-hydraulic oils for both the transmission and the hydraulics, it might work for my Fergie as well. Thanks for your help! Phill |

| if you experience low winter temperatures, you would be better using 15W/30 oil as it does not get as thick when cold and it does work in all temperatures wheras the original oil GL1 80W or 90W goes like treacle when cold......John |
