i just pulled the wheels off my tea 20 to clean up the brakes and replace the axle seals and there seems to be a heck of a lot of float. both sids are the same. the axles move in and out around 1/4locking the hub th of an inch, i pulled one side out and took it apart the bearing feels good the surface of the shell looks new not that polished look of one from off your trailer.

the hub has been rubbing on back of the axle.

anyway what in thinking is that it was incorrectly set up last time it was apart as it was put back together with a white silicone sealant between the flanges, gaskets and shims, giving it more float than required?

is it possible the bearing and collar not put all the way on?

when putting the hub back together and knocking the bearing in is it possible to push it in to far as there isnt anything to stop you pushing it hard up against the axle flange.

in the info you sent regarding axle seal replacement it showed the sure seal in the picture it had another seal or something between the hub and axle marked n/a it the only pic that shows it is it part of the sure seal kit ?

The part marked n/a was a dust seal and has nothing to do with what you are doing right now.
If the axles shaft move in and out when all the nuts are tight on the Hubs then it is possible that the bearing and the collar are not on as far as they should be. If all the shims were removed to should not have any float at all, so you can check it that way. You should need to add shims until you get the wheels turning in opposite directions and then add between .008" and .010" shims to give necessary end float so that the inner ends of the Axle-shafts are not pressed hard together. You do need to use the proper gaskets and not this sealer, you should also check the Hub nuts for tightness at least twice a year, more often if it has a loader fitted. Once the nuts come loose the Hub moves and wears away the gaskets and shims. If the Bearings are not on the Axle shaft far enough then the collars will need to be cut off and replaced, if you knock the collars on cold they will not grip the Axle-shaft as intended and slip and allow the bearing to come slack. Maybe that is what has happened here, the collars should be heated until cherry red and dropped on the shaft and knocked into place quickly....John
