Yeah, Santa brought me a project... he forgot to leave an envelope of 100's to go with it. Clutch fingers slightly worn out of spec, throw out bearings aren't suppose to look like this are they? If I didn't know better, I'd say that is pieces of governor in the oil pan... and the valve rotor cap that made the engine seem to be seized? Doesn't it remind you of the creepy TV shows about how the rocks in Death Valley move along by themselves leaving a trail? I'd be entertained if I didn't tally up all the broken bits and pieces.... |

| OOOOhhhhh........Merry Christmas to you!! Look at all that fun you have been given. I better not give you too hard a time 'cause I'm almost ready to split my latest......Not to take it down that far but to replace the trans and engine seals and put a new clutch and throwout bearing in.......Still not 100% on that but I figure now that it's somewhat torn apart I might as well keep going. I've given up on the hope of moving any snow with it this winter and I think I'm ok with that. Just as long as I can move some earth with it in the spring.
Brand new/rebuilt starter I just put in has it's drive gear stuck out.....not impressed but it's still got warranty. Only started it maybe 7-8 times now the drive gear won't budge from it's outward position. On a better note, with the muffler off I don't hear the chirping noise. And I don't think it's just because the engine is louder.
Well anyway..........have a great Christmas Tony........and all the rest of you. |

| Are those thrust bearings still available? We cannot get them over here. Looks like you need a parts store right on your doorstep, Tony....Happy Christmas . Sam |

| Well Sam, I hope everything is available- do you look into the YT store on the left? Even if they don't ship out of the US, you can just bring more empty suitcases and pay the excess luggage fee.... |

| I'll tell ya Jason, I'd rather not think about it. Fingers don't seem to be available without the assembly? And in the DVD sold in the YT store, the guys said they replace the governor every time they rebuild one. I guess that's a safe bet, ya don't want to make a habit of pulling the front end appart, and you sure don't want pieces of an old one in the oilpan like what I got here.... but yeah, nearly 300 unexpected bucks into the project is a bad start for 013... |

| That"s ok, I"ll find a set eventually. I"ve got a bunch of Ferguson parts stored back and a lot of it I"ll never need. I"m the kind of person if somebody helps me then I"ll try to help them. If you can use them and it helps keep another Ferguson going then you can have them. |

| This was the one that was dead as a doornail 2. I drove it in the sense I coasted it off the trailer as my father and cousin ran for their lives. I am wondering if I will ever drive it... so I might have to drive yours for practice... |

| That exact same thing happened to me some years ago with an Allis-Chalmers CA. I was clearing some brush and undergrowth one day and though I saw sparks a couple times from the corner of my eye. But I didn't hear any scraping or other noise. Put it in reverse and when I pushed in the clutch to stop, it let go. Backed me into some pretty heavy underbrush before I could get it shut off. I tried to get it into neutral but the stick wouldn't move. |

| it sure is amazing how they just keep going and going no matter what. The same types of minds in that era brought us many other robust things like the B17 or the Dodge Power Wagon. |

| | oooooh boy. I bet that made some noise when the clutch pedal was pressed down! And that does look like bits of the governor. It looks like you could use a parts tractor...or maybe this IS a parts tractor? Dan |

| Hummmm. I was thinking the same thing Dan. The MF50 is coming appart next, I think we'll have to make some decisions then. The tires and power steering are worth twice what I paid for it, but I really would like to salvage this engine, to replace the Standard diesel on the TO35 back half. The prop master for the next Mad Max movie made me a fair offer for just the engine... |
