If you mean the top casting under the seat, you can't just weld it(unless you know what you are doing) as it has to withstand a lot of pressure. You can replace the top casting new ones are available and they are strengthened for the later tractors. What will most likely have happened is that someone has used a higher pressure safety Valve on the older top cover and it can't withstand the extra pressure. Make sure that the bolts attaching the cover to the tractor are torqued correctly or it will do it again. All the controls and linkage inside will need to be changed onto the new cover and re-set. The Top Cover isn't listed on this site that I could see, but it is Sparex part S42293 (MF Part 180908M1) which will be available from any Sparex parts dealer, you should also fit a new Safety Valve in case it is this that has stuck and caused the problem
If you want the information about doing this, let me know and I will send it..John(UK)..fergusontractors@hotmail.com

Ya know Tony, I was gonna make a comment like that but I figured I'd been a little hard on you lately so I decided not to, must have been a weak moment. I'm glad Sam caught it, I'd hate for something like that to be wasted.

Don't pay attention to Sam. Inno has a good point, read the post above this one, and study the pictures..

Grey, red, yellow and green, you sure Tony wasn't at that tractor before you?....Then again it might be a Massey Ferguson-John Deere!!!!!
Don't know if you can get it over there, but I use red Bonda, zinc phosphate primer...it is as close to the original primer as you can get.. plus it is anti-rust and goes on real nice with either a brush or a spray gun.

If you mean the top 3 point cover is broken (under seat), then the 3 point lift system probably needs some work or you could be in the same position again if the original problem is not addressed.
