From empty the transmission takes 6 US gallons. To find level if you have no dipstick, remove bottom screw on one of round side covers and add 5 gallons and then add a little bit more if necessary until the oil runs out of the stud hole. The level will be slightly down on the normal level but it can be a good thing as it will often prevent any oil running through the seals onto the brakes. When you add the oil, only add 2 gallons at a time and then leave it for 15 mins before you add any more or the level may get too high in the Transmission and it could run into the Clutch Housing if the seal is worn on the main drive shaft into the Transmission from the Clutch.you need to allow some time for it to settle as there is a baffle built into the housings to prevent oil surge when the tractor is working on hillsides or the oil would all run to one end. Use Multi-grade 10W/30 oil...John(UK)...fergusontractors@hotmail.com |
