Jason S. 09-30-2012 17:42:36 174.228.68.70 Report to Moderator	After reading thru the MF plow thread it made me think...what pieces are some of you looking for? Or what pieces do you already have? Me personally I have a 1951 TO20..a 1950 DEO20 rake,a 6AEO-A-20 sickle mower, an AEO-A-20 sickle mower, a BO20 frame and I have found two DEO25 rakes and I am thinking about buying one because it"s hard to rake the windrows together from behind my haybine it mows too wide...my rake needs to be about a foot wider which is why I am thinking about the 25 rake. I really do think that collecting Ferguson parts and equipment is like a disease...although its a good one. [Reply]   [No Email]

But it appears to be a blade that was adapted (welded) to some HF lifting iron from some other implement. I'll try to get the number from the tag tomorrow. Not sure if it is still readable or not. However there are several obstacles in the 3 acres so about 1 acre of it mite be 2nd gear and 1/2 throttle. Of course i'm sure that ploughing is far more difficult than lawn 'grooming'. I've never farmed but i'm guessing two weeks between ploughing/cultivation processes. 14 days X 12 acres/day = 168 acres. That's alot of acres!!! I have no idea whats available. DOesn't have to be fast. Just has to make the job easier than ladders,climbing and hooking cables around the tree to shake it by hand or with the yard buggys bumper. If you he one of those and had it mounted to a four wheel wagon frame. It would make a dandy trimmer, picker Hyd bucket. Might look for a used utility truck or just the bucket. [Reply]  [No Email]

THanks for the explanation about the amount of acreage a TO-20 will handle. I've been over 20 years trying to get any kind of an answer out of anyone about it. THe reason i asked is because everyone around here wants a modern 4wd diesel claiming how much better and fasterthey are than any of the old gasoline tractors. But i see so many of the diesels setting around neearly abandoned because of engine problems. OR they get used very little. I'm in the middle Tennessee area. The terrain here is so craggie and ground so poor there are very few people tht actually farm in away any larger than a 1/4 acre garden, maybe 50 acres max of hay or corn. My To20 is often kind of scoffed at by those that have more modern diesels. I have 9 acres here in the WHiskey Hell community. Small fruit orchard (if i dare to call it an orchard) and 3 acres of it to mow and about 1 acre to bush hog once a year. The TO20 handles it just fine. I can knock out 3 acres of grooming mowing in about 45 minutes if i get aggressive, 1 hour to do a better job. I recently bought a TE20 (with the cracked block) that ii plan to use for futurure crop cultivation or would like to. With the price of food going up i will probably have to grow my own. IT's a little scary to me. I can't even get a tomatoe plant to grow in a clay pot. The orchard literaly came up on it's own. I didn't even know they were fruit trees until i happened to pass under one one day and saw the big brite red cherries and later on on a persimmon fell on the hood of my car. [Reply]  [No Email]

I"ve got 4 tractors..a 1940 John Deere model A.. a 1954 farmall super a..my TO20 and my MF175. I use the ferguson and the Massey..the other two just sit. I am looking for one more tractor and it will either be a MF 35 with a Perkins diesel..a 135 diesel.. or possibly a MF 50 diesel. Something else to think about is which do you think more people would stop and look at? A new kubota or etc...working or an old ferguson working? People look at me going out the road all the time cause I"m out there raking hay with an old ferguson set up and not a new v rake. I think for a lot of people it brings back memories for them. I've tried to adapt a big leather office chair as well as cheaper smaller office chairs but they're just too wide to clear the lift arms of a TO20. I'm 6'2" and 185 pounds, so everything is difficult in terms of seating positions. [Reply]  [No Email]

When I bought my TO20 it had a padded seat on it and I took it off and put an original stamped steel seat and spring back on it. I guess that's because it's what I was used to is the only reason I could come up with and I'm 6'1 and 210 pounds...but it just didn't feel right to me to drive a little ferguson with a padded seat. I guess it's hard to change after 35 years of one type of seat....lol. [Reply]  [No Email]

So i have no clue as to how much work a TO-2o will do. From your post i assume u are growing hay. Based on your experience, what is the MAXIMUM number of acres that a TO20 could reasonably handle for growing hay or cultivating crops??? Seriously, i have no idea if it's only 3 acres or 3000 acres. I only use my TO20 for lawn grooming and maintaning the gravel driveway. Never ploughed a field in my life. As for my wish list: A rock rake, carry box, front end loader, snack tray and beverage holder, flail, and anything like a bucket lift that will raise me up 20+ feet in the air to pick fruit, trim trees, engine hour gauge i could go on and on. Sure they can't round bale hay but overall with the right equipment you will probably find there aren't many jobs they can't do. Personally I have almost 50 acres that I take care of and my TO20 does all the plowing, disking,cultivating, raking hay except for one part and that is because it is so steep that I have had a TO30 sliding sideways down the hill with me so I rake with my MF 175 on it. Harry had an implement for most any job you could think of for his tractors. Yes it may not be the fastest way but they get it done and very well I might add. I grew up with my grandparents and he farmed almost 900 acres with nothing but a TE20 for years which was replaced with a TO30 later. He had a new holland 68 square baler which I now have that originally had a Wisconsin motor on it. I have his paper work from the 50's where they put up between 5 and 6 thousand square bales a year with that old TE20. Yes many years later he bought a MF165 to pull a round baler and the square baler after it was converted to pto powered but the TO30 did all the other work up until a few years ago when he died. Sorry for being long winded but my point is with the right equipment they can do most any job you can throw at them. [Reply]  [No Email]

I can look tommorrow and post a pic of exactly where it is on mine if you want. Which the 75 year old dealer here told me that early ones have the spring loaded idler on the belt and later ones didn't. The one I grew up with didn't have it. If I remember right the parts book shows two different belts and the serial number break but I can't remember what the number was. [Reply]  [No Email]

I have been told I have the later one because it has the beefier 3 point hook up. Yes there are two belts and I just measured mine and told the dealer which size I needed and he ordered it for me. The one I grew up with had the same hitch as the earlier one I have now. I'm not saying your wrong or anything...I would like to see it just out of curiosity. I have seen pics of two different DEO20's that had the cast spiders with the stamped steel circle spiders like on the DEO25's behind the cast spiders.
