Looking for information on a IH 350 Utility High Crop. Can any one tell us about this tractor ?? Like why a utility high crop? Were there a lot of them built ?? Any idea what it is worth ? It's in about ave.OK condition and runs OK Is it collectable at all ? Thanks Jack

I am certainly not the expert on this 350 model but do have a friend who has one which is beautifully restored. I believe he said only about 850 total were built. According to information from the IHC Archives at the Wisconsin Historical Society the tractor was first named "International 350 Hi-Clear Tractor" in early 1957 which was changed six months later to "International 350 Hi-Utility Tractor". The reason for the name change was to eliminate any confusion to the high clearance tractors as used in canefield operations. With an expanded area of sales on a national basis instead of being restricted to the shade tobacco areas an annual demand of 800-1000 tractors annually were believed possible.
The additional ground clearance was obtained by using the Farmall 350 rear axle, wheel and tire equipment, and the provision of a front axle on which the vertical extensions are increased by five inches.
This information is documented in the Product Identification Committee Decision No. 131 (Mar. 28, 1957) and Supplement No. 1 dated Sept. 17, 1957.
Hope this is of some help and to answer your question on collectable I would think it would certainly be and doubt they are rarely seen even at the large IH Tractor Shows like the RPRU, Hal

Thanks Hal for the response. The chrome lettering on the hood reads 350 Hi Utility serial# 17079 HC Can you tell the year from that ?? Also where would I get a guess as to what it is worth. ?? Thanks Jack

17079 should be a 1958, as i believe the high utilities were numbered along with the regular utilities.
as to numbers built,

FROM The farmall works production shipment and demand report ,dated oct 31, 1958
I350 HU GAS 871 US 6 CANADA ,877 TOTAL 350 HU GAS

I 350HU LPG 55 US

I350 DIESEL HU 73 US
1005 TOTAL WERE MADE, 6 WENT TO CANADA

I think there would be some increase in value over a regular 350 utility, but the bigger question of value would be based on how it runs, looks, and the condition of the tires. also, the steering box is often a weak point.

Not Hal , But Jim Nicholson. I have a 350 Utility and have seen several High Utilities (RPRU and other locations. I give them a value about 1.5 times the worth of a standard 350U and 2X the value of a diesel 350U. In non-restored running with fair tires and working TA, Fast hitch, IPTO, and not dented I propose 3000 as a roundable figure. Jim

Thanks Jim I appreciate the response. I don't know why I am bothering with this tractor I never liked the IH utilities any way but thought this might be something different. Jack
