farmall 706 shifter repair

i have a 706 gasser that don't go into high range very well and also reverse it is a bit shakey.i have heard tell about a roll pin that may be sheared off or worn but don't know how to get to it.thanks for any help in advance

Most of the problems will be under the shift cover under the foot pan. Bushings worn out, springs broke, but you can get a rebuild kit for it.

ON that one you will need to pull the deck off and remove the top shifter cover and also the side plate on the left side of the range transmission cover . When you pull the top cover off Rev, shifting fork will fall and you will not be able to reinstall . What you will find on rev. is (1) the key is worn in the rev. shifter shaft. (20 You may find that the detent plate and shifter cam is wore out . , next you will find that you have broken rollers . IF and again IF the Cam is still good you will need a new shifter shaft as the keyway is shot and the roll pin is broken . Most shifter problems are cause by slamming the shifter levers due to improper clutch adjustments and dump valve adjustments. Look back thru the archives as i have covered this in great detail over the years. I have fixed many .

armall1941 if you can find one of these post by tractor vet let me know. I have searched many times looking for this info from tractor vet at no success. he has many post to scour through. My diesel is a bit loose also.

Well i DID try and redo it in great detain BUT someplace in my DETAILED on HOW TO There soft ware did not like something i typed and afther going over it to see where i S.C.R.E.W.e.d. up AND TRYING TO CORRECT IT TO SUIT THEM i have no idea . Arther is in my hnads so bad that it is really hard for me to type anymore and the pain today is a lot more then the pills can cover .So i am NOT retyping it anymore .
