reserch paper

I must agree with the previous poster in response to your inquiry. If you are writing this research paper for an educational institution, you will have to clean up your writing style and methodology or it won't matter how much research you do, you will fail. We also will require much more information on your needs in order to offer you some help. Post back with whatever you already know and a picture, if at all possible.

What happened to, "Who cares as long as you get the point across?"

Oh wait, you mean to tell me that being able to communicate clearly and concisely DOES count?

Now, on to the OP's question:

Asking on a forum does not count as research.

OK, we've hammered you enough, I think you get the idea. These tractor forums are for specific tractor / implement questions. The best way to do your research, is to go to your library, check out a few tractor books. Go to wikipedia.com, you'll find a wealth of information under various headings. Get back to us with specific questions, we'll be glad to help.

Really guys? Since I am an old coot, I can say this: ya bunch of grumpy old coots. Give the kid a chance before you climb all over him.

Drakeffa, my email should be open or send me a PM. I'll be happy to answer any questions you have and will try to give you some pointers of where to do research.

PS. To the regular members of this board: you can bet your sweet bippy that Hugh MacKay wouldn't have come out of the chute like that.

Feel free to photoshop your picture on Walter or Jack

Not trying to speak for Drake, but I think he is looking for the F-12.

Drake is a local high school junior who is restoring an F-12 for his FFA project.

I visited with him on Sunday and helped him a little with what we could do.

Any help we can give will help him in so many ways. Its good to see a young man starting early with this old equipment.

Drake,
My email should be open. Email me and I might be able to give you a hand.

I am in FFA and the first tractor I restored was my F-12.

Wow,some of you old guys can be real ***holes. Someone is asking for help and all you can do is be negative and make smarta** comments. Pretty sad grown men act that way.

Yea Guys, go take a chill pill.

Drake, One thing you might want to check out is an old international harvester video on youtube. I believe it's called "the history of tractors" or something like that. Its an old advertisement from International where some old guy is having trouble with his tractor and takes a nap under a tree. He has a dream of the International salesman coming out with a big truck with every International tractor and crawler made at the time, all operating by themselves. I think you'll find that useful.

Hey Drake, there is a book you might be able to find in your library. It's a big red book on international harvester. There is a ton of information on the company back to horse and mule drawn implements.

Bet my sweet WHAT? Hey Tom, 1968 just called...they want their corny slang back. And I would not be so sure about Hugh. I remember him well...he had his days.

I see only constructive criticism to the young poster. The day is long past when we needed to start being a little tougher on our kids. He needs to clean up his act. I could write a better request when I was 10.

Well Dave, in 1968 we were a bit more tough on our kids, korny slang and all. Hugh had his days, but I also saw him be incredibly patient, and most always willing to help.

So, which one do you want your photo placed on, Jack or Walter?

There exists a multitude of books produced for each major brand of tractor built in the USA. The above would be your best starting point, and once you have narrowed your interest to a particular model or year, then search the internet for reference material pertaining to it specifically.
Do not get discouraged, all of us started the exact same place you are now, none of us were born with this knowledge. I have learned the most by taking the time to listen to people at tractor shows that actually grew up on and used these machines daily. They are a wealth of information.
I would read as much as I could prior to beginning any restoration. Once you decide, let us know & we will get you started on the right foot.
