Trying to install an overdrive unit in an F-12. Does the shifting shaft belong on top. Where does the operating lever mount? Does the engine need to be slid forward to get the yoke on the overdrive unit and then slid back? Is it nessesary to grind a notch in the frame on the clutch side of the tractor to mount it? does anyone have pictures? Any insight on this would be appriated.
Thanks,
Bob

I assume were talking a Heisler here, this is a photo I saved from this site, not mine but it shows it pretty well. The Heislers have their own drive couplers, hope you got that with your unit or you may have to get something made.

To answer the rest of your questions, no the engine does not have to be slid forward or backward to install the overdrive unit. And you do not have to cut any kind of notches in the frame rail. What you do have to be familiar with is the number of teeth on the unit. I don't remember right off hand since I'm not close to my books, but there is a difference between the F-12 and F-14 tractors.

Thanks Guys, I will try it again next weekend. This is a Hiesler overdrive and I did have it in just not in the right position. I put it in without the coupler on and then there was not enough room between drive shaft from bell housing and shaft from overdrive unit to get the coupler on then. That's why I was wondering if I needed to slide engine forward and back when done. Thanks for The help.
