I am tearing down, completely, this f12 someone donated to me for a FFA tractor restoration contest. I will be having a lot of questions. I have the manuals, but they don't show everything.
I am having trouble with removing the transmission /pto cover. There are two threaded studs up through the cover with two 10 " metal strips, one on both sides, holding this cover on. there are no bolts on them. Cover should pull off but it wont and I don't want to tear anything up because parts are hard to find. I have a picture I can email. Please help! I will have many more questions as I go. I just need some guidance.Thank you, Drake Davis
My phone # is 765-225-1245, I can text pictures also. My email is [email protected]

Drake, Did you remove the alignment studs as 36F30 told you to do on tractor talk forum?
That should do it. oldiron29

Put the seat studs back in and attach a chain. Then use a hoist attached to the chain to apply some "up" pressure.

Get a really thin chisel or screwdriver and try starting it right at those pins. Mine was so bad I placed a little heat on pins with torch and let cool plus lots of blaster

Drake- I'm one of the guys who responded to your mom's facebook post and said to come here for good advice!

These guys will get you going in the right direction for sure- good luck on your project!

PS- I overhauled and repainted an IH 340 tractor as my FFA project in 1983-1984....

Id stick with the advice on the facebook page......

you shouldn't ever 'pry' on a cover to get it off with dowels in it. remove the dowels and the cover comes right off

I told him the same thing in Tractor Talk as we did on Facebook, cover is off now. Not bent
