The planter sold for $400.00 and all though bidding had been slow on a lot of things, bidding on the fast hitch planter was quick

Larry, I am not sure of the model of those units. I will try to find my book and see what it shows. It is Not really for a SC though. It is newer than the SC's are. I also think this is just a 2 row cultivator with units added to it which was done a lot with the tool bar mounted planter units.

I have a newer 4 row fast hitch planter with 185 units and I haven't had a bit of luck selling it. Think I will cut the tool bar into and make 2 two row planters out of it. I hate to do that but I sold my 450 and don't need a 4 row planter on my SC. Already have 2 row planters for it.

I found a picture in one of my Completing Packages books of a 4 row planter set up just like that one. It is showing those as 184 planting units on the same type of cultivator tool bar. The one I am looking at has a different driving system for the fertilize attachments. In my book this one is driving the fertilize units from the gauge wheels instead of the paddle disk in your pic. The planter and cultivator looks the same though.
 
The cultivator frame was IH. The planters, mounting and hoppers were Cole. The fertilizer distributors were also Cole with the fully rotating bottom. The planters were pre-highspeed Cole so they date from the late 1950's. They could also be mounted on a Pittsburg frame. It would be my opinion that neither the planters nor the distributors came from IH. Larry from ATL.
 
I think you are right. The planter units do look like 184's but the hoppers certainly don't. I thought maybe someone may have just changed all the hoppers but I think you are right about them being Cole.
