Got a disk to repaint for a customer and wondering what model it is so I get the right decals. After looking on tractor house I think its a 37 but they all sorta look the same to a JD guy.... The owner thought it was a 350. Thanks guys.

Looks like an IH 37 to me. It appears to have the later style weight boxes and to have the earlier style ball bearings on the gangs (hard to tell in the pic).

There may be a difference in the decals between earlier and later machines if you're trying to please the correct police.

I think it would be a model 35 if it has plain (grooved) bearings, or a model 37 if it has ball bearings. A pic of the bearings would be helpful.

It is eigher a 37 or a 370. I would put more money on 370 because of later style wieght boxes. I think a 37 had solid bottoms in weight boxes that you had to clean out

Bob, I would agree with you that this is a 370 disk. I have a 37 disk and that has the weight boxes with solid bottoms. Also, the rear hitch is slightly different on this one than my 37. So I also think that it is a 370. Al

Mitch, Here is a picture of a 37 disk scanned from the 1961 IH Equipment Catalog. I originally thought it was a 370 because of the open weight pans. But from the picture, it looks like the 37 also had the open weight boxes. But the rear hitch on the picture looks like my 37. That's the only difference I can see in your pictures. They don't have a good picture of the 370 in a later year catalog. Hope this helps. Al

The 37's actually had 3 styles of weight boxes:

Earliest was two pieces of angle and a piece of sheet metal between them.

Then they bent the ends over on a single sheet of metal to make the box.

Later ones were the style pictured, or very similar to it.

I just looked on the CNH parts site. It shows the 37 disk had both plain bearings and the sealed ball bearings. Plain bearing were used from 1955 to 1961. The sealed bearings from 1962 and later. My 37 disk must be 1961 or older as it has the plain bearings. Al
