656 carburetor slow leak--how to detect and fix?

The IH carburetor on my 656 has a slow leak, or more like seepage. I think there may be a hairline crack somewhere along the fuel bowl, but if there is it must be small because I can't see anything obvious. It might also be an area of porosity in the casting.

I was wondering if anyone could advise how to go about detecting the location of a leak like this? And also on how to fix it? Thanks for any advice!

Take and blow around the carb.w/compressed air and watch. It should not take long to see where it is comeing from.

Just turn the sediment bowl off when you park it.If you are loosing gas, and can t find a leak, it is going into the oil pan.
You can spend a lot of money changing parts or just turn the gas off just like the manuals call for.

If it was going into the oil pan, you'd know it.

The 656 has an updraft carb so there is no way for the gas to flow directly from the carburetor into the engine.

In order for the gas to run into the oil pan while the tractor is sitting, it would have to fill up the intake manifold and the air cleaner pipe.

When you tried to start the tractor, it would hydro-lock, or spit a big slug of raw gas out the exhaust if you're lucky. You would definitely know if this was happening.
