Farmall 450 sidewalk snowplowing - video

Good video Bob, Thanks for posting it.

Why does the plow have that "prong" sticking out the front? I've never seen a plow with something like that on it.

Dave - That prong is to guide the plow up over curbs, misaligned sidewalk slabs, etc. All the sidewalk plows have 'em.

Also - there's a backward facing "shark fin" hook welded on top of the prong to attach a tow chain when required.

I like it! Just judging from the "whine" it made when backing up, I'd guess the tranny is beginning to show its age.

Awesome video!

I see you really have the rear wheels of the tractor narrowed up. How wide is it outside of tire to outside of tire?

I truly love the custom muffler design. No irrating flapper to rattle around and bang (I hate that sound). Plus the height savings it provides is likely nice too in low barns, low garage doors, low tree limbs etc. I have modded all my mufflers to just barely go through my one low barn door, but I still may steal your design. Do you have any close up pics of the muffler?

thanks for posting

Thanks!

I believe the tractors are 54" - 56" wide outside the rear tires.

There's minor variation of the exhaust arrangement on the plow tractors. These two are fairly typical:
