Question for Dr. EVIL

Dr. EVIL: Mightn't it be possible that some 460's had a power steering delete option? My new to me 460 shows no signs of ever having power steering, and I would like to look into converting it to power. Thanks, Hugh

Oh.... With IH ANYTHING was/is possible. Every 460/560 I've ever been around had p/s but it may have just been a real popular option, or standard with manual steering as a deduct option.

Getting a front bolster and the hydraulic supply components including the priority valve would be my suggestion. Jim

So on the 460 the power steering motor is basically built into the front bolster? What about the priority valve, where is it located? Thanks, Hugh

The 4&560's use a piggy back hydraulic pump on the back of the main hydraulic pump for power steering. The flow control valve is part of that pump. All other steering mechanism is on and in front bolster.
