Farmall 354 cuts out after 10 minutes

Have a really nice 354. It has always run very well. It will start right up and run well for 5 to 15 minutes, then starts missing and finally dies. It doesn't appear to be a fuel issue, as it has good fuel flow, have twice replaced coil, and that seems to help for a short time. This time it helps for only the first ten minutes. Any ideas on what is going on? It also has a new carburetor as the old one was just worn out at the linkage.

Even though you've said you've replaced the coil, it sounds like a coil issue to me. Does the coil get really hot, and is it a proper coil? I would agree that it is probably not a fuel. I would also try replacing the condensor if the coil checks out.

At the shop I worked in we would pour cold water over a "hot coil" , if the vehicle started right up we pretty much knew it was a coil issue.

Sounds like an ignition issue. Could be a hot coil on account of bypassed or shorted ballast resistor, or an improperly wired ignition switch. Could also be the point gap is way out of spec (as the engine warms the gap changes enough to kill the ignition).

Put a neon voltage tester between ground and the connection on the distributor side of the coil and run it while watching the neon light. If the volt reading There is going to be enough stray voltage to make it flash. If it stumbles and quits flashing as the tractor does, it is likely in the points/condenser.
Another not mentioned issue could be the charge rate of the alternator. If much over 14.8 volts it can over heat the ballast resistor and or coil and cause failure. A test light on the key side of the coil will test the supply side voltage. if it fails, the key/resistor/wiring is faulty.
