Earlier post about gas cap with gauge BAD INFORMATION

Farmall gas caps have been notoriously bad, leak, fall off, don't fit or get damaged easily. I have also heard over a hundred stories of Farmalls running out of gas because no gas gauge. I have found a great replacement with gas GAUGE by accident. It fits my H model but will fit all the same Farmalls with similar tank. It is an early 80's old Polaris snowmobile gas cap and fits perfectly tight with accurate gas gauge. I cross referenced it and KELTCH makes them brand new 12.5in Bayonet type cap part # 7J201153. You can find them on ebay too. Hope this helps all the Farmall owners who have ever ran out of gas....... :D
BAD INFORMATION

Bought one using posted part number--not even close better off flush those 10 dollar bills down the throne at least they would have been useful that way

Should have checked who ever the poster Corvetter2 is the gas cap post was his first and only post here---he must be the guy who sells them.

Anyway live and learn, just a warning for everyone else.

Your certainly welcome, someone had to be the first dummy---- its me most of the time anyway, no reason to stop when I'm on a roll. LOL

None of the tractors of that vintage had fuel gauges. Very few tractor drivers ever ran out of gas. Most drivers were smart enough to fill the tank in the morning, and then again at noon when they came in for lunch. I've spent many hours on an H. Never did have to walk home because I ran out of gas.

Having a gas gauge on the tractor does not guarantee you will not run out of gas.

Everything you say is correct, I have spent a few
hours on them myself, a gauge would have been nice
but certainly not a required for operation

Wouldn't of bought one anyway. The chances of a new cap on a completely different thing would match is very low.

I usually check the fuel before using with the good ole fuel stick. Had to use the oh no gauge (OH NO it stopped. I'm out of fuel) a few times. That was usually thinking there was enough to do the job or no extra fuel on the yard at the time. And it seams to always happen on the far end of the field.

I have one of those float type gauges made by IH on my 350 diesel. They are neat on a show tractor, but what a messy thing when you add fuel. You need a clean place to set it down all the while it is dripping diesel fuel. If I used this tractor a lot I would question using it. Roger

What's your point? Who would put 20+ gallons of gas in a tractor that is used once a week...or month...or less. No everyone has a gas barrel at home to top it off everytime they head out.

If your H saw daily use, several hours each day, you would most likely have a gas barrel. Most of the farmers who farmed with those tractors didn't have time to go to town each day and bring home a couple of cans of gasoline.
