Farmall a governor questions continued

A few days back i had some farmall a governor questions. I got down to the shop to tinker with it a little. Issues are i suspect im not getting full rpm and the first half to 3/4 throttle range is no responsive. Previous owner had a spring between carb flange bolt and governor arm pulling tension on it but it would always idle high however did turn more rpm. I removed that spring knowing it is not suposed to be there and am now looking to solve the problem correctly. Tried adjusting the rod between carb and governor arm as suggested. With tractor off i removed the linkage, moved the throttle to wide open position the adjusted the linkage so the carb is in the wide open position and the pin slipped through the yoke easily to re attach the rod to governor arm. Only took a half of turn and nothing changed. Just checking if i did this right and what do i look for next?

Kevin, check the shaft that goes into the gov from the throttle lever (in front of the distributor/magneto). Put the throttle lever about mid position to check it.

I know mine acts a lot like yours does, and that shaft/bore hole is significantly worn.

With throtle mid position i can definately grab the arm on the
distributor side and wiggle the shaft a bit. Both shafts actually,
distributor and carburator side. Is this the orgin of my problem?
Does anyone make a rebuild kit to fix this?

Planning on it when i open her up. Just trying to collectively figure out everything ill need to get her running good while getting away as cheap as posible. If i could get away with opening it up for just a new spring that would be beautiful.

When you have the gov off get the input shaft bushing replaced you bore them out to 5/8 and replace with a 5/8x1/2 bushing and if the rest is ok it will solve your problems as you know how to set the linkage.
