IH 674, wanted to change the filter, took out the center bolt, but can't get the cover off. Don't have a filter or strap wrench that big.... any ideas?

tap lightly around the edges with a hammer (preferably a small
ball pean) or tap with a hammer and drift punch around edge
should break loose

Hit it with your hand or loosen it with both hands, it is stuck to the rubber gasket.

I'm haven't worked on one of those but sounds like your
describing a canister type filter. Place a short piece of 2x4
against it and strike that with your hammer.

Put the bolt back in some. Then tap with a small block on the corner where the taper to the bolt starts. It should just fall off at that point. I would refrain from using a hammer directly. The bolt back in is to keep from getting an oil bath when it breaks loose. Be sure to clean the screen in there on the filter. A new o-ring should come with the filter. I don't always change them since they are rather tough to get out.
